From math and scripting to multidisciplinary system simulation - Model-based development with Altair Compose® and Altair Activate®

PDF Version of the Presentation

In this workshop, you will learn how Altair Compose and Altair Activate can be used to represent mechatronic systems using holistic functional simulation and will get insights in various case studies.

One tool for performing calculations and manipulating and visualizing data, including CAE and test results, is Altair Compose - an all-in-one environment that enables a wide range of mathematical operations. It also supports process automation and scripting for recurring calculations.

Using multidisciplinary system simulation, Altair Activate enables customers to understand the overall system behavior of their product earlier and evaluate important interactions between components and subsystems. The combination of signal-based and physical modeling forms the basis for end-to-end use throughout the development lifecycle - from early concept through detailed design to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.

How CEVT Improves Vehicle Architecture and Eliminates BSR Through Simulation - Part 2

Improving the ESL using Complete Vehicle Correlation In the previous webinar, the development of an ESL has been shown based on a complete vehicle simulation. In order to validate this new approach, a comprehensive correlation work has been performed. Using the dynamic distortion in all closure body openings as correlation criteria offer a unique possibility to increase the understanding of the load from both the engine and the wheel suspension. This webinar presents this correlation where a test vehicle is driven on different test tracks both in reality and virtually. Presenter: Jens Weber | CAE Engineer, CEVT

How CEVT Improves Vehicle Architecture and Eliminates BSR Through Simulation - Part 1

ESL Development Based on Simulation - Application example The body stiffness has a major impact on the Squeak & Rattle performance of a car. Since the body structure of electrical/autonomous cars will differ clearly from traditional bodies, an enhanced requirement is needed to limit the distortion in the closure openings. This webinar presents a new approach of defining a requirement based on closure deformations using an equivalent static load (ESL), which considers both the reduction from a complete vehicle to a BIG and from a dynamic load to a static load. In addition, an example is shown how ESL can be used as input for body optimization. Presenter: Viktor Jonsson | CAE Engineer (Consultant), CEVT

Improving Electric Vehicle Range with Advanced Losses Computation Considering PWM Across a Full Duty Cycle

Improving Electric Vehicle Range with Advanced Losses Computation Considering PWM Across a Full Duty Cycle

Introducing electric traction in automotive brings new challenges for the design of electric machines. Nowadays designers have to consider increasing constraints like efficiency, temperature, weight, compactness, cost but also stricter regulations, while reducing time to market. Fortunatly, Altair proposes disruptive methodologies to make relevant choices in the early stage of the design, based on numerical simulation and optimization techniques. Once the machine has been selected and designed in Altair FluxTM this webinar covers how an electric motor design's performance is evaluated and maximized considering its global efficiency along the whole driving cycle. The next design challenge is to get an accurate estimation of the losses, which becomes more and more strategic in the design process in order to accelerated speed to market with balanced design and confidence. This estimation is also a key issue of thermal design. Therefore, the study of losses (in particular non-conventional losses) is crucial. Two methods are proposed to take the current wave form into account: by using an equivalent circuit model in Altair ActivateTM system modelling software, or by representing the PWM in Flux circuit context.
